Castlerigg and Derwent Water

Castlerigg stone circleThe forecast was dour. Rain the whole week! And I had a one to one workshop in Borrowdale, reputedly the wettest place in England! My student and I exchanged emails, discussing the alternatives if the forecast proved correct however the outlook for our chosen day suddenly became brighter.

We met at Castlerigg before the sun rose and spent the first part of our day watching the light change and hoping for some colour. We were very fortunate and managed to capture some really telling shots as the clouds raced across the sky. My particular favourite is the image with the crows circling moments before the sun rose above the horizon.
