Late summer roe deer

I’ve not spent much time with the local deer lately and thought a quick return visit was in order. Unusually for me these shots were captured in the early evening, after the day visitors had left and the countryside had returned to it’s quiet self.

After spotting the doe reclining in the long vegetation I waited a while for her to get up but, although she was aware of me, she didn’t budge. I could see just her ears!

A wander further up the meadow with my 100 – 400 revealed the buck with his doe on the edges of the wood pasture.
