Sometimes it can be the simplest of things that makes for a memorable day of photography. Last week I enjoyed a long day out in Anglezarke with a semi professional photographer who’d come up from Oxford for a one to one workshop.
His goals were to explore lakes and moorland with some macro time thrown in, followed by a couple of hours of Adobe Lightroom tuition back at base. Our morning was spent getting totally lost in the details of a lakeside beach and then being consumed by the intimacy of a huge beech tree that stood nearby.
John very much had his own agenda so I took a light approach to managing the day but must say I was tickled pink to hear him chuckling with delight at the images he was creating with leaves and peaty water.
It’s always my hope to inspire through my workshops and my one to one days are ideal for that as I can tailor the day to perfectly match client needs without compromise.
After lunch in Rivington Tearoom we ventured onto the moor tops via a fast flowing beck whose banks hung with icicles.
Again, we spent an extended time seeking for unique images amongst the crashing water and frozen ice.
The moorlands didn’t disappoint either as we trekked a mile or so to a distant farmstead ruin which was the perfect foil for our moorland session. I was delighted to get this comment back from John on his return home:
“I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed yesterday. It was a truly wonderful and uplifting day of photography and much more besides. I keep thinking about the range of environments and techniques that we managed to fit in. “
